Hey Bill,
I currently have an Autohome rooftop but will be upgrading to one of these for next season on the coast.

In concept rooftop tents are great, but in practice they are challenging because you often need the vehicle to move around on the river.

For stillwater applications or places where you can hike directly out of your campsite, they're tough to beat for versatility.

You could use bicycles, electric bikes or Honda CT90s to move around the river.

I sometimes use my 20" folding Dahon bike to pull a trailer with my Watermaster & fishing gear. Then I fold the bike up and use trailer as rear deck on the Watermaster -- just float on back to camp (or take out).

That's exactly why I chose not to get a fold out one like the Tepui design, plus if it's raining and freezing cold, the last thing you want to do in the early morning before you hit the river is fold that tent up. With the Wedge/clamshell design you can leave your sleeping bag or in my case my down comforter in the tent and close it in less then a minute. It worked great for me this winter keeping me high and dry.
