.....on the Sacramento River.

Some Stripers also go into the American and Feather Rivers at this time.

I was under the impression that you need to have relatively good clarity to catch a striper on a fly in the river. I was out last year during a great striper run, however high and dirty water, and watched a few kids pull out stripers on bloodworms until they ran out of bait. It kind of made me want to join in but I knew if I started tossing bait I wouldn't have as much fun as casting a fly rod. I don't know about the American or Sac but the Feather is mud right now. Hopefully it clears out before the shad get here.

It is never clear up there in the spring.

I don't think that flies work in mud through.

You need to see a foot or so?

Flies work up there normally.

Flies are no good in muddy water. Unless you take some piles worm sauce and dab the fly in it hahaha!

As for clear water it will be a while before any clear water in the valley rivers. Maybe towards the end of April.
