It's Spring!!!!!!! Or a good impression there of......
Flows have changed........I expect kayaks to appear on cars today.....

Raining all night....Snow pack is going fast.

Roads are very wet......slow or hydroplane.....
Creeks are raging......

Upper river is at 1130cfs, tan and rising fast.....mid 40s...warm rain, from mist to..>>>>> pelting..!
I can feel Hawaiian breezes.......
Lower river 1350cfs It's time for a big stick.....! Also a good time for euro nymphing right at your feet.......
No wading...................!
Local store is out of ABs and AAA Dunsmores split shot.
I will be out in while to fish a bit, and will report again!

Baetis (A lrg sz dry 14-16, tall blue wing, as well as nymph), and Midges, both adults dry and subsurface, and Little Winter stones both dry and nymph.....and maybe a Skwalla if you are feeling lucky.
And Now Serving!!! March Browns!!!
You can add Crays, and worms to the list......

Ok...about 4-6" of slush on the flats. Sloppy in the extreme...
Sounds like a cold finnish to the storm, but not much accumulation...1-3".
Fat soggy flakes falling with a thud, mixed with rain.........

All my posts are daily from the river......no shops were called in making this report....:D.
Nor guessing from home.....
Generally, parking to fish , a little better...but not much...don't get stuck, be conservative......bring a tow strap...
Remember, no on-street parking this time of year....Keep'em wet! Treat'em nice!

This is your march miracle...ha. An all Women's team summits the snow removal pile at Wild Cherries winter 2018.

So what was the great winter ski season . . . 10 nice powder days this past week and a half? Damn.

We had a nice surprise at our TD home over the cold spell . . . someone forget to drain the pipes . . .

Anyone have a recomendation on a good drywall contractor in the Truckee/ North Tahoe area?

On a brighter note, Jim, fishing could be exciting when it warms up next week. Skwala time?

A past student and current friend K is happy because this was a one drift fish on her birthday.........this is not from the Truckee but slightly further north......and....she is hard into her 3d season....
Just out of curiosity...when last did you meet a Brown like that, in big water?
She's getting the hang of this one-drift thing eh?

The T has her spring voice right now.
Color is green/clear 40deg. ...nice.
It's back to 1300cfs in town, and it's level and fishy!...if you can fish it's game on.
I heard a friend went 7 fo11 drifts that"s 7 fish landed out of 11 grabs with slightly more than 11 drifts....that's fishy.
If you are not getting results like that, then you need fish counseling......not more drifts. See me if so, there is no reason to go fishing and not catch fish, or just little ones.....say under 20".

The birds are back and singing up a storm....watch them for clues to hatches.
Seeing occasional big March Browns, Baetis, and Midges....of course.
A Cray, or worm, might get their attention.................
Local store is out of ABs & AAA Dunmores.....

Took time out to finish a wilderness first responder cert.
Did several scenarios next to the T and couldn't look....just tend compound fractures and Femoral bleeds, etc........
for eight days....
It's good to be back on the water. I have a few days available this week if you feel like walking the river.

Treat'em nice.
