Interesting article in today's (2-20-18) LA Times
about the Buttercup Pantry in Placerville.

Folks there definitely have a great sense of humor
when describing the signature "Hangtown Fry."

"It's a glop of shiny brown oysters, bacon and
scrambled eggs." $15.99!

Seems like a lap dance ought to be included at that price.

Anyone have experience with the place?

It’s been years, but I did have breakfast there a couple times. At the time my impression was pretty much standard fare, nothing spectacular but decent enough for a return visit or two. Haven’t been particularly inspired to go back since, though perhaps they have changed for the better? Sweetie Pies down Main Street is my go to for local breakfast in Placerville

I second what Jason says! Buttercup is an upscaled Denny’s with middle of the road food, more of a hangover breakfast in my book.
+1 for Sweetie Pies!

Funny that you mention hangover breakfast, now that I recall it WAS a hangover that landed me there the first time! Ha!

It’s been a few years, but I remember the food being decent enough. The portions? Even my then mid-teen (now 19) couldn’t come close to finishing it. Not sure I could finish 1/4 of it on a hangover stomach, but with legal weed, it might be a stop for those of you that partake...
