Selling my Ross Gunnison G4 with two extra spools. These are pre-98. In my opinion some of the best reels made. Reel comes with two extra spools with a total of 3 spools with the reel frame. Asking $200. Buyer pays for shipping. Pics sent upon request. In really good condition.

This would be a good reel for a small two handed outfit.

Nice on a single handed rod for stripers and Steelhead.

About 20 years ago the Ross Gunnison series was the "Big Dog" in American made fly reels.

They are the small arbor or traditional fly reel configuration.

G-1 was the smallest for a #3/4 rod.

G-2 was the biggest seller for #5/6 outfits.

G-3 was a good fit for a #6/7 rod.

G-4 was very large diameter and was used on #8/9 outfits.

**Many of use used the G-4 for Bonefishing..

Back in the day most fly shops recommended the Gunnison for the best reel money could buy.

We knew that they would not fail......

**There are better fly reels today due to changes in design, production methods and drag technology.

Before graphite Spey rods came on the scene in North America we would use a single hand 9'6" #8 weight rod with a Ross Gunnioson G-4 reel with three fly lines to fish Steelhead in BC:

1) Cortland Green 444SL "long belly" WF8F

2) Shorter integrated sink-tip 10' - 13' - 15' type III or IV

3)Integrated sinking head - "Tenny 300"

Not everyone used exacting this combo but something like this.

We sold lots of spools in those days...not so much now.
