Anybody know of a site where they post real time (or close to that) steelhead numbers for the Willow Creek weir?

I'm not aware of any such site. Comparing to 2013 (another odd numbered year which had the tribal bump in flows in late Aug, and has the same W/E dates as this year) and normalizing 2013's count to average steelhead abundance, we're at about ~44 percent this year. We're a few weeks past the fall apex. In 2013, the WC weir recorded the bulk of the winter run moving up on w/e 11-26, 392 fish over the weir that week.

The winter run unlike the fall, is NOT consistent in it's arrival and can hit anytime between late Nov to early Jan by my account. The fall typically is a gradual build up to the apex and taper from the apex. The winters by my account, have a much shorter arrival progression.

Contact Mary-Claire (MaryClaire.Kier@wildlife.ca.gov) for the counts through the Willow Creek and Junction City weirs, as well as the count for Trinity River Hatchery. She sends a spreadsheet weekly.

The Willow Creek weir only samples a portion of the fish in the river so while it may give you an idea whether or not fish are on the move - it's not an accurate count.
