No fish this AM but a beautiful start to the day.

I describe the middle Rogue River as looking a little like the Lower American River but with fish. Ha ha......

I was on the Rogue Thursday morning as well, it was spectacular. Wadeing upstream the trees on both banks were yellow, gold and an occasional red looking directly into that spectacular sunrise. Best part was at the top of the riffle was a snag leaning out over the tail out upstream with a Great Blue Heron 15 feet from me. We looked at each other for a minute or two, I was surprised he remained there as on my home waters they fly away if you get closer than 50 yards. After a minute I began casting and he continued to remain on his perch. Wish I’d had a camera.
The Steelhead were not playing but I caught cuttys and smolts in every run, a bit aggravating until I just decided to take it for what it was. Last cast a bigger fish blew up on my fly as I was stripping it in, probably a half-pounder.
