We've been going this time of year mainly for the bigger Bull Reds, but redfish can be caught almost anytime.

This year Jim May and I will be there Nov. 16 and will be staying at the Dogwood Lodge. The lodge is a kind of mothership moored right in Hopedale so we'll be right on the water every day.

Book your trip through The Olde Fly Shop in Slidell and talk to Tristan, the owner. We booked four nights, with three days of fishing for $1775.00 all inclusive. This is a great deal considering most good guides alone charge about $600.00/ day.

Love dem reds, was planning on going down next week to visit family and do some fishing. Now there is a hurricane headed that way and I had other things come up. Can't wait to bet back on the bayou again, Mems.

December and January are great months too, but it can get cold and windy. When the weather is good WOW! I can't post pics because I don't have a photo hosting site any more.

It's not just about the big, post spawn female reds. There are a few other challenging fish in the marshes and just outside. Big schools of jacks, sheepshead, black drums. Getting one of these buggers to eat a fly is a serious challenge. Just getting close enough without spooking them is a win.
