It's happening down in Baja. Right now they are catching yellow fin tuna, dorado, a few roosters and wahoo. Also getting into some marlin. Word is that the sardina's are back in the area, around the island, the light house, Muertos bay, boac del alamo. They have been catching yellow fin right outside of Muertos Bay and the light house
I have a trip going there on Oct 7 - 14th and have some spots left. As usual, my Fall trip has been reduced 10% from the regular price. I also have my weeks posted for my 2018 trips. Rememeber, if you sign up early with your deposit, you can select your week and captain.
For more information, send me an email or go to my face book page and check out the information.

Jay,

That sure doesn't sound like you're retiring. :) And you're starting trips to Christmas Island on top of that? What a way to slow down :) Tony

I'm kinda semi retired from Baja. I'm only staying two weeks at the most. No more 2/3 months. But then again we are at the new hotel which in much better than the La Concha. Closer to the restaurants, better beds, A/C that will freeze you out, a nice roof top bar and pool. I will also be doing more trips to CI and possibly NZ for salt water fishing. I might even book trips back to Turneffe Flats Lodge.

Jay have you noticed the potential tropical storm heading for Baja?? 90 percent chance of developing shortly.

They are saying it will most likely rain and have some wind. Doesn't look like it will turn into a hurricane, but you never know.
Baja could use the rain. It might turn the fish on more.
This is why I advised purchasing travel insurance.

The storm now has a name. Hopefully it won't be a full blown hurricane, if it does happen possibly a cat. 1. Will bring lot's of rain and wind. Kills the fishing for a couple days. I still have a month to go so we'll have to see what happens. I've been in 2 hurricanes so far.

Crap! just when it was getting good. Wait a little she'll be right! This time off year you take the good with the ugly and that is not so bad when it gets good again.

It's a storm but not like Odile. It will take a few days to settle down then the fishing will turn back on. I'll be there the week of Oct. 7 - 14. Hope we get into the yellow fin and dorado. My goal is a wahoo on the fly :-)

Jay,
Here's one Jim May got on our trip to Christmas Island last year. I got a hook-up this year on one that bit the fly in half even using wire on a double hook. I used the front half of the hook the rest of the day and landed several more ahi and cuda.

That's what I'm looking for. Either Baja or CI. It doesn't matter where I catch it. I've got mackerel flies, purple/black, pink marlin flies and will be doing some big wiggy air heads flies. Did the kitchen cook up the fish. Hopefully they didn't screw it up

The kitchen did in fact cook some of it for dinner that night but I think the crew got some too and there was not much to go around. I have to say though, we also took a nice rainbow runner that day and it was by far the best tasting fish I've ever eaten.
