Here are a bunch of bugs I just finished for some canoe smallmouth fishing I will be doing in September. These are kind of a cross between a Dahlberg Diver and an Umpqua swimming frog. The nose shape dives the bug and pulls some air under with it which gives it a good pop and gets their attention. The flashabou tail gives it some sparkle and entices them in for a strike or at least a closer look. Larry Dahlberg likes the flashabou and said the Dahlberg Diver was a delivery system for flashabou. Kind of like cigarettes and nicotine. The rubber legs hanging down in the water give it some life and motion and seal the deal if the fish is hesitant and scrutinizing the bug. Color does not seem to matter in the fishing I am doing so I make them whatever I think looks good or whatever material I happen to have or can get. I put a bright color on the nose so I can see if the bug is upright.

I made a video of these catching smallmouth and posted it in the photo section. The link is below if you have not seen it.
