2017 August Speaker

Our August 1st speaker is Robert Stewart and he will be talking to us about the Trinity River Restoration Program (TRRP). Robert is my cousin from back East and is currently residing in Weaverville, Ca. where he works as a Hydraulic Engineer for the U.S. Department of the Interior and Bureau of Reclamation. Robert studied Civil engineering as an undergraduate and in his spare time floated and fished streams in Middle Tennessee. It was there he developed a passion for water resources. He finished his education by getting a Master’s Degree and PHD from the University of Kentucky in Lexington, studying the characteristics of water velocity and turbulence in open channels.

The goal of TRRP is to restore and sustain natural production of anadromous fish populations downstream from Lewiston Dam to pre-dam levels. TRRP works in partnership with federal, state, tribal and county entities. The strategy for accomplishing this goal is to restore the processes that produce a healthy alluvial river ecosystem. We have many club members that enjoy fishing the Trinity and it will be very interesting to find out some of what’s going on there.
