Some friends and I will be hiking the GTW in late September, and climbing Whitney. This is a hiking trip, not fishing, but it is the first (and maybe only) chance I'll have at my Heritage Challenge Goldens. We'll be camped at Horseshoe Meadows, Long Lake (cottonwood Lakes), Rock Creek, Guitar Meadows, and Trail Camp. Would appreciate any thoughts from those of you who know the area on my best shots at fish. It's a short day to Long Lake, so I'm guessing that's my best shot, but waters, flies - would appreciate any advice. Thanks!

If you can't hook a golden around cottonwood lakes, just give up.......
They are so amenable to eating a dry that one could feel some guilt....
Stealing candy from babies, would be comparable.
Big Whitney meadows is a short hike away, and pretty unforgettable as well.
No point in fishing up high, as season is shorter the higher ya go.....
Drink lots of water on Whitney....

I have always thought that goldens hooked on Sierra Bright Dots seem to make the day even better. FWIW

Cottonwood Lakes/Long Lake/Horseshoe Meadow Goldens will not qualify for CHTC FYI. Not native drainage. Rock Creek Drainage they are native so you're good if that's what you're after

Ouch - 2 messages that I'm outside the HTC area for Goldens. I just assumed - ah, well, still a bucket list fish. Thanks for all the quick responses / pm's!

Got the HTC download. Not sure I read it right..
But BW meadow is included in the GT area....Google it...
There is a weir at the bottom of the meadow.
Not far from horse shoe...
