We sold lots of Sage LL series fly rods.
They are all very nice smooth action rods.
We also all had the Sage LL rods that we fished with.
The 389 and 490 and 590 LL were all very popular sizes.
And yes, this one is very rare.....I never saw one.
8' rods are for accurate dry fly casting on freestone streams.

I had the pleasure of casting an identical rod earlier this year, belonged to a man I met at Lake Natoma. Buttery smooth, perfect medium action rod, and I am not normally a fan of graphite. It's a rod I'd own and use if I wasn't covered with glass in this range. To me 8'-8'6" is the perfect length for rods for 5 wt. lines or less.

I agree. I reintroduced myself to my shorter flyrods and had a blast casting with dart like accuracy...... The infamous TMF is 8' in length. The rod for sale would be a lot of fun casting big Hoppers into undercut banks and under overhanging trees when wading some infamous western US rivers with many braids and channels. How about fishing the big "cricket" patterns on Slough Creek?

Back in the 1970s we sold tons of Fenwick fiberglass fly rods.
Our biggest sell for trout was the FF805 which was an 8 foot, # 5 line 2 piece fly rod.
Recently, I bought an old one from a friend who had one he was not using.
We use to put the Pflueger Medalist 1494 size fly reel on them with a WF5F Cortland peach 444 fly line.
**I took it to the Upper Sac and hooked a wild 16 inch Rainbow trout on a #14 dry fly.
