President Trump signed an executive order requesting a review of selected national monument designations. The review encompasses designations that occurred since 2000 and parcels 100,000 acres and larger. The public comment period will open May 12. State governments and private industries such as logging and mining firms have expressed concern about these designations.

I understand the Federal Government can and has overstepped its bounds. But I think the more land that can be protected as national monuments under the Antiquities Act of 1906 the better for everyone concerned, whether they realize it or not.
