American Shad are here at the mouth of the American River.

Just called Broadway Bait, Rod & Gun on Broadway in Sacramento.

They said Shad were being caught at Freeport, Miller Park and the mouth of the American River.

This is probably anchored boat fishing or spin fishing from the bank.

Where can you launch a small drift boat from a trailer near the mouth of the AR at these water levels. How far upstream would the next launch be? How strong is the current in the bottom mile of the river. I have a 5hp motor on a Little Willie 12' drift boat. I prefer to wade, but this sounds like a boat year.
