So this storm that's coming through is putting some snow in the mountains but seems we're missing some here in the valley? Watching the release and the lake level, anyone have any thoughts as far as if the the might start lowering the release?

Always hard to say for certain, but I would expect high to very high releases for a while. There is potential for yet another big spike in the flows Monday night on the North, Middle, and South fork of the American above Folsom, and and we've not yet come close to the start of snowmelt runoff time. I doubt they will want to allow Folsom to get much more full than it is already, thus flows might come down somewhat but will most likely remain fairly high for a while. Spring and even early summer will likely be challenging fishing, time to develop our high water game a bit.

One of my best recent shad years on the American was the last time it stayed in the 5-8K range for most of the season. You have to pick your spots at those flows, but it really seemed to bring in big numbers. I'm thinking it was sometime 2008-2011.

Fish worry about too little water......not about too much.
As Jason suggested....
Adjust your game and get after it.......
