Hi friends! My silence these last couple years has been the result of a big move back to the PNW and the rebooting of my contracting business and finally!.... Having some space and time to play with my wood! ;-) Ive continued collecting the most spectacular wood over this hiatus and as of about 6 months ago, got a pulse in my woodshop!

I am building fly boxes again! Along with all the other products I was offering before including some cool new stuff! Everything has one thing in common. NOTHING is made from ordinary wood! Just wait til you see some of this stuff! Its better than ever!

During my time off, I let the Flygrain domain name go and unfortunately it has been taken by an online television channel :-/ . So currently I do not have a website. Please follow me on facebook! https://www.facebook.com/Flygraincom-524508740954084/#
Thats where Im going to do the majority of my publicity until I build a new site

I do have a full time job so I am making things much slower than before and am going to have a limit on custom, personalized work.

Heres a sample of what youll see...

Jay , what are the flasks going for? And are they stabilized? Just thinking of rainy wet river days.

Hey Mark. At the moment Im leaning toward $65. Ive got about $10 (depending on the type of wood) plus 4-5 hours of labor. Im making sweat shop wages on this stuff LOL. I am finishing the wood exactly to the same standards as my fly boxes. So 4 coats minimum of exterior SPAR Urethane. I think I may add a tiny bead of clear silicone at the top edge of the wood to keep all moisture out. The wood is permanently attached to the flask. I am including a flask funnel with each one. This is definitely a new creation and may need some fine tuning. Ive seen some chinese slap jobs where wood veneer is wrapped around a flask, but this is actually 5 separate pieces of wood that I have milled from raw lumber, burl, etc... and glued to form a permanent case of wood that is 1/8" -3/16" thick. And the wood Im using is the bomb! Theres a reason I save even my smallest scraps ;-)

Im making every attempt to make these extremely useful for the outdoorsman.

Very cool Jay! Thanks for the rundown on the construction on these, sound bomb proof! Have you thought about laser or wood burning a fish or fly on the flask face?

Definitely Mark! These are the first fruits of what I hope to be many more :)
