I see that the Yuba is flowing around 6,000 cubes. Does anyone have any idea when it'll be fishable again? I sure am dying to get out and swing for some fish. It has been a LOOOONG season of nothing so far. Glad these major storms are finally over with so we can all have a chance to get out and hit the water!

I will be surprised to see the river go below 3500-4000 anytime soon but I hope I'm wrong. It's now at 5k so maybe it will drop out. Clarity is a whole different issue. Call Tom at Reel Anglers for his opinion and experiences...he will have better info.

It's going to be a while; https://yubanet.com/regional/nid-isolates-water-supply-as-deer-creek-in-nevada-city-runs-milky/

We may see another AR coming in next week, at minimum more precipitation for sure.

Regardless, if the river comes down under 3,000 I will be out there swinging something dark just to keep in tune.

The pain is real. - J.

Jon, is the Yuba still muddy? I see it's been stable at 4500 the last few days.

Yes it is. Projected flows to be around 15,000 by Saturday morning. Oh well, next year. - J.

Thanks buddy. Yeah, the struggle is real right now. Seems like I will be putting some miles on the new vehicle going back and forth to the Trinity for the duration of the run up there. Maybe the low flow Feather is fishable but I bet that is pretty off color too.

The low flow is bigger then the Yuba. It's at 12000 cubes for now. Bummer

Sometimes there's a short gap of reduced flow in late May to early June before water transfer flows which begin in July and remain, in years like this, will be in the 3-4K range all summer. Flows will drop dow to 1-2K around 1st September.

Wow! Back to 35,000 cfs with two more storms to go! This river will be pushed around once again. One of these days, maybe all the gravel will end up over Daguirre and into Marysville?! What the hell did they do with those gold dredges back in the day when the river blew out?

According to the flows info the yuba is down near 3250cfs. Any thoughts? looking to get a line wet this weekend

I was just about to ask the very same thing!!! I suppose it's all dependent on the clarity now. Hopefully there's still some fish left in the river after those long term raging flows.

Two days ago the Y was at 10,000, last night 6,000, then this morning 3,250. With flow changes this drastic it is unlikely the fish will be in the mood. Also, abrupt flow changes of this magnitude are usually accompanied by erosion which won't help water clarity.

Talked with some people last night who had seen the river this week. Apparently, it's still off in color, supposedly, despite being stable at 3200-3300 for several days now. I didn't drive over the river on the way to Grass Valley last night, so I can't give a first hand account.

I drove by there over the weekend and the water was pretty murky then too.

I stopped on my way home today from work at the hwy 20 bridge spot. Its still pretty high and murky. It didn't look fishable to me but maybe if you have a boat?

Its not brown, more greenish milk color. Zero insects. Zero fishermen. There is fishable water at these flows. Cold water, like low/mid 40s.

Thanks Lance, it was a real treat to be on the Yuba again.

I can't wait. Hammond Grove is my spot. I'm hoping for some good catching this summer.

Unfortunately, I think it's going to be awhile for walk and wade on the LY with all the snow melt coming down the hill. Not sure what the level of Bullards Bar is right now, but I imagine it's high...given that the LY is running at 10K again.

If I'm being optimistic I say maybe the walk and wade gang starts to get a few good licks in late June/early July, but it might be even later...
