Snow in the islands. Went out today after the Packers lost.

Got this bluefinned trevally, omilu papio on my TFO 6wt. Great take and a good fight, tried to go around a couple of rocks.
Hope some big ahi show up for superbowl. Hope you guys are staying dry, Mems.

That had to be great fun on a 6 wt.. That's a good size for eating too. Sautéed in a little butter with soursop and soy. Mmmm.

Question, when do you stop calling them a papio and just an omilu ? Nice, whatever you called.

Hey Tony, good question. All trevally under 10lbs are papio. Over 10lbs ulua. Bluefinned are omilu. This one filleted and panko panfried. Most get released, but I haven't been offshore in a couple of weeks, and the wife likes papio. Thanks for the comments and questions, Don.

Nice Don. I had heard the islands got some snow.

I bet you're nearing chef status with all the fish you eat!

Aloha Don,.... Love the photo of snow on the mountain tops. Beautiful Bluefin Trevally. I'm still trying to catch a Bluefin. This trip to Christmas Island I will target them and Triggers for at least a day. Gotta get a big GT, too.
