I got it bad...
Crazy how 3 months out of the year can leave you longing the other 9 for their return. Short river systems, strong winter fish, hours spent tying big bright flies, constantly checking flow forecasts, spending hours online reading weather reports and watching satellite loops of systems far offshore trying to forecast when to call in sick and go for a few fleeting days where most people don't want to be, it rains, it's cold, it's windy and the river has no mercy on you as you spend hours and hours wading her patiently waiting for that bolt of lightening to take you for a ride you'll never forget... Wouldn't want it any other way...
If I don't get a chance soon I may need to ring the shrink and spend a few days in the rubber room!

I hear ya there, brother! These storms have put a huge damper on this season for me. Hopefully these high snow packs will bring lots of water this spring will draw plenty of spunky fish up the rivers for us!

Can I come?? Maybe will get a 2 for 1 or some type of discount? They might need a bite leader for me though. Great looking bugs in a great looking box.. the Plan D! On a good note, just think how happy the fish are!

Love the box, gotta admit 3/4 of them flies are from Aquaflies, wish I could tie like Jerry French and Stuart Foxall! There's a weather window on the horizon, hoping it holds long enough for the rivers to drop and clear a little.
Sheepdog, was just reading that the snow pack water content is approaching that of 1982-1983 max! Hope we all get to feel the benefit of this water in 2-3 years!

With the current weather in CA im sure all of us are getting cabin fever. I need to fish real bad!
It's been a little less than a week and im going mad!
Hopefully the roads are clear enough by mid week for me to get out and wet a line. It's more of a where to park and not get towed.
But I've got major steelhead brain and hopefully that gets cured this long upcoming weekend.
My name is Morgan. And I am also addicted to those fishy pulls.

We are selling lots of those new fly boxes for Intruder style SH flies.

I was jonesing so bad I was casting in the heavy rain runoff on my street, while it was raining hard -- I gave up after 30 mins because I got low holed twice. Did not catch anything, so it was almost like fishing the Lower American.

I too was casting into the snow in my back yard as I have a new rod and line I haven't been able to fish yet. Target practice on my dog as she ran around.

truth is funny sometimes
At least for the Humboldt rivers, Sunday thru at least early Wednesday looks like may be the only window for the next 2-3 weeks.

Had to try it yesterday. Standing at the edge of the willows on river left, casting sequence was downstream roll cast-snap T-downstream snake roll - cast. I assume the people on the bluffs opposite thought I was a homeless guy swatting invisible bats with a stick. 6" visibility in the sun, 46 degree water (So according to Bill McMillan we should be able to skate them up ;-) ), nada.
Was over at the aquatic center this morning, Natoma is still less than 1' visibility, so it may be awhile yet.

I wish there was something to try around here. Im close to the Russian and it hasn't been even close for probably a month. Fished some costal rivers twice, skunked. Fished another river about 4 hours away twice and got one bump. Supposedly from what I heard from other fishermen and then what I read about the trapping summary I missed a huge pod of fish by literally one day. I was aspiring to be a steelhead skagit bum this season... :(
You know its bad when your walking back from the river in January and a little voice in your head you try and ignore is saying "I wish it was shad season"
