The water releases go up because southern california reservoirs, underground aquifers, and agribusiness, and water barons need their share. And while they enjoy full lakes and reservoirs and the water barons sell their water rights allocations to junior rights holders, we northern californians we'll have to endure drought draconian measures. Just another another mismanagement, courtesy of Gov. Brown, water managers and his donors with deep pockets.

I do not understand the management practices either.

Folsom currently at 41% capacity and dumping more water out than it is taking in.

Posts like this are not real healthy for me! Hahaha! Does make me sick on what money does! It's not a issue of side. It's a issue of money! Damn greedy a holes. I do want to ask people that have lived in the area in the past. Has there been this kind of water management in previous years? I don't really recall being to young to remember. What I do remember it was not this bad with water management.

Oh and a side note.... anyone hear about a executive order signed by BamBam and the building of the tunnels? Boy will that mess things up if it's true. A friend of mine told me this gonna do some research in the morning on it.

OR it could be due to the fact that the combined inflow between the North, Middle, and South fork of the American is projected to go to over 180,000cfs on monday perhaps? I believe it would be a grave mismanagement to not prepare for such flooding.

I'm not sure what the maximum ideal outflow would be, but I would suspect that they would prefer to keep it to less than 50,000 or so? Given the size of the predicted storm, if the inflow goes anywhere near projection they will need a lot of head room to keep flows somewhat in check down below. It's been my experience that those projected flows tend to be no more accurate than the weather forecast, sometimes off by a lot, sometimes off by a little. Of course they do on occasion underestimate the severity of floods too. For several reasons I'm hoping that the estimates on this storm are off, ideally some COLD temps would be a really good thing right now.

Folsom is all about flood control, so in January they have to let the water go, just in case they get a full load of snow up top and then deal with the runoff in May and June. Remember we used to row boats around Sacramento and other parts south in the spring prior to flood control dams being built.

Can't wait to see this spillway done and see how they manage the water then.

Been a problem since they started sucking water down south. Just keep up the GOOD FIGHT. That's about all a guy can do. Don't feel alone in your frustration. The same stuff goes on up here in Idaho. Every fall we watch our reservoirs get drawn down to puddles then just hope for a bunch of snow to get them full again.

Same here. Is there a finish date on them? Or is it a problem like I80 where there was no funds to finish until 1-2 years after said finish date.
