Need to be there for two weeks, which leaves a weekend open on Jan 20-22.

Any fishing around there worth trying? Could talk myself in to a run down to the keys, but it will be bank fishing all the way, and last time I was down there banking access was piss poor.

If the weather is warm, go fishing. If it is cold, go sight seeing.

Like the previous video was saying, winter is when most fish leave the flats,,,except,,,, barracuda. They seem to hang around when everything else disappears.

One place with easy beach access is Bahia Honda State park. Drive through the park to the north parking lot then hike a little farther north to a point next to a channel. Wade out into the turtle grass and make some long fast casts with anything flashy out of the currant. There were lots of 'cuda there and very easy wading.

If you want to get out a little deeper and try for something different, you can rent small patio boats at the entrance to the park cheaply and try it for a couple of hours without hiring a guide. Save a couple of the barracuda for chum if you want to get some smell in the water for something bigger. They do have a smell very much like salmon and all the guides there use them when fishing for shark.
