I have lived in Yolo County a long time and saw salmon spawning in Putah Creek for the first time this week. I know they have been around for a few years but this is my first sighting. Their return is quite a creek restoration story. If you saw the creek 25 years ago spawning salmon would have been the last thing you would have expected to ever see there. Twenty five years and a lot of lawyering and biology later there are salmon. Congratulations to those that envisioned this and worked to make it happen. The creek is not what it was prior to Monticello dam and this will never be a salmon fishery but this is a great thing.

We have all seen plenty of spawning salmon but I felt like this was worth some photos. Maybe steelhead will show up someday.

They are below Solano. They can't pass that dam. If they could that would be interesting. These fish were all in a restored section of the creek on gravel that was placed there.

Those pics are so great!!! Thanks for taking the time and effort. I really like the story. Good, no great lawyering and Biology, mixed in with some help in making the beds, probably more than one time, but nothing beast success!! Well done to all who go in there and
did the work. Sure wasn't a one time feat. Looks like a lot of effort by a lot of people.

Sue made my day

Thanks for sharing,
