Seems like I'm going to be in Grants Pass till almost Xmas. Spent the day checking out a few of the city/county parks in the area in search of easy river access. The two closest are Chinook and Baker Park. Are any of you guys familiar with these two? I liked the look of Baker but not sure if it's worth buying a non-resident license to fish. Can't get to far from GP due to wife's health but Baker is just down the road about 5 minutes. Headed for the fly shop tomorrow to get their input. I brought an 8, 6 and 5 weight and 6 switch.
Didn't mean to be here right now but Gold Beach is getting drowned and the Rogue down low looked unfishable as did the Elk.

Touvelle State park has good access - both sides of highway - in park and on boat launch side

Best $7.95 you can spend. Might find one at local fly shops, I got mine direct from them but it took a couple weeks. Looking at mine I can see that Valley of the Rogue State Park is just a few minutes upstream from Baker; lots of good water there with D, E & F loops better swinging water than A-C.

Valley of the Rogue is nice and I fished there last fall so somewhat familiar. Having read the thread discussing the state of the Rogue Steelhead run, or lack there-of, I'm convinced that I've picked a lousy year to be here. If the "Locals" are not catching fish the likelyhood of my success is pretty low I think. Will probably head back down to the Redding/Red Bluff area around Xmas.
