Everyone knows it's time for stripers in the delta, and if you're fishing from a boat for them you're probably familiar with my stripping baskets too. These are the standard heavy duty baskets I've been making for years and are available at Kiene's American Fly Shop in Sacramento now.

Lately I've had more and more requests from guys with smaller boats asking if I could build a basket scaled down a little to meet the size of their boat. If you've got a John boat, or a Lowes G3, of even a drift boat you use for steelheading, this might just do the trick for you. Deck space is always a premium in any boat and I've made two new sizes of baskets that might fit their needs a little better.

The first basket is 12” in diameter and stands 25” tall. The second basket is the standard 15” diameter but stands only 17” tall. Both are built exactly the same as before using a solid PVC end cap, a PVC floor with Delrin pins for better line control, and a foam lined upper for cushioning and color accent.

Stop by Kiene's shop or come to Dan Blanton's Striperfest on Nov. 5, 2016 where one will be given away at the raffle.
See you there, Tony

You won't find a better basket on the market. Yes, they are pricey, however, they won't blow out of the boat and they will last as long as we will. The only reason to buy a second one would be for your partner in the back of the boat.
