Rain is on the way!

So looks like we have rain coming our way later this week. We got some rain a week or so ago and it really sparked the bite on the Sac! I would expect the same. I'm glad trout have memories because they are eating eggs even with the lack of salmon. There are a few salmon moving in but I have not seen a redd yet. The fishing remains good.

Lack of salmon up your way is most likely due to water allocation choices that lead to Coleman National fish hatchery trucking smolts down to Bay area back in 2014. Those are the salmon that are coming back this year, but they are getting lost and going up other central valley rivers instead of all the way up the Sac. Next year will be worse, as even more fish were trucked due to what was characterized as the "drought" in 2015. This year salmon smolts were released in-river, so the 2018 season will be more like normal.
