I've picked up some great gear, fly fishing and otherwise, on ebay. I've also sold a ton (probably literally) of gear on ebay. I usually can find what I want when I'm looking for something, although I sometimes get outbid.
I think it's a tribute to Winston Rods that you don't see much in the way of their premium rods up for bid. You see their lower-end rods, you see their upper-end rods with a slight discount, but you rarely see their upper-end rods for bid.
I've been looking for a Winston boron 3wt for months on ebay and it's just not happening. I suspect, like me, people like the rods and hang on to them and then pass them on to family.
