I'm not familiar with the Skeena with the exception of hearing about the large Salmon/Steelhead up there but after reading about the proposed facility, I can't see where something that intrusive accompanied by frequent tanker traffic isn't going to cause a lot of disruption. I guess the Skeena is a large river to accommodate tanker traffic on that scale....

Unfortunately Canadians value utilizing natural resources above protecting salmonid fisheries. The Bella Coola Chum Salmon gill net fishery in front of the Dean River is a perfect example. As a tourist if you voice your opinions on the destruction to the summer steelhead caught in the nets, you are reminded that you opinions are not welcome. It is unfortunate.

Additionally, outlawing non guided nonresident angler fishing on particular days of the weeks and watersheds, only the wealthy who can pay for lodging a guides are courted. The rest can just stay home as far as they are concerned.

I think that many foreign interests own and control lots of the Canadian natural resources so lots of that money goes out of the country.

They don't like American anglers telling them how to run their ecosystem.

They are also trying to get more people to immigrate there, especially 3 world people for cheap labor.
