Wife and I hiked Broken Top today. Broken Top is one of our local 5 highest volcanic peaks. It's the most dramatic in my opinion with it's rugged, craggy peaks. It has two glaciers and a glacial lake in the cirque below the peaks. Only about 5-6 miles of hike but about 1300 feet of elevation gain, mostly in the last half of the hike.

I've never seen the Sisters that bare. Of course I never go up there this time of year. Is it normal for the S faces of the Sisters to be that sparse?

Thanks Bill.

John - we actually have more snow this year than last. We'll probably hold on to some of it until we start getting new snow this winter. Last year there was virtually no snow left on the Sisters, Bachelor, Jefferson, Washington. Had to look all the way to Hood to see some snow.

Those are some super pics. What a view. Never hiked in that country.

Nice family outing, 1300 elevation gain is a feat unto its self. Good job!

Thanks again for the pictures and story. How about the fishing next time?

Heh heh, I haven't been fishing around here in some time, so I'm the wrong guy for that report. But I thought it would be worth mentioning that the camera I used was a Sony a5000. Check it out if you're in the market for a new camera. Uses the interchangeable "e" series lens which are small, light weight and give you lots of flexibility. The camera's panorama settings are fantastic too.
