About 20 years ago Leo Gutterres and I found Marco Ruz and his Tarpon Cay Lodge in San Felipe, about a 3 hour drive northwest of Cancun.
Today, Marco has 4 destinations in the Mexican Yucatan, and they are all different, but incredible fisheries.
For years now we have been taking groups there through our shop and most of the time we combo up two of these fine destinations.
My group trip = Isla del Sabalo & Campeche in Mexican Yucatan - July 22 to July 29, 2017
In July, my favorite month there, I have designed a special combo trip to Isla del Sabalo, a tiny remote fishing village, and also to the small coastal town of Campeche.
It is 6 days of fishing for Baby Tarpon and a few other species like Snook, Ladyfish, Snappers, Etc.
This special combo trip is $3,955.00 double occupancy, plus tips and airfare.
Airfare from Sacramento to Merida, MX is about $500 to $700?

I searched the the Caribbean coast of Central America for 30 years to finally find this remote area that is still pretty unmolested.
Baby Tarpon are my favorite fish on a fly rod......
