.....especially if you live in the Sacramento Valley.

Most will go to the cool Pacific Coast where the salmon are being caught just off shore.

In the surf you might be a perch, halibut or stripped Bass.....

Just off shore around the rock some will be getting rock cod.

Mostly they will be getting cool.

The rest of them will be headed for the high country where it is cooler too.

This is the time the higher elevations are perfect for fly fishing.

Some will be back packing an d others might take a pack trip.

Others will be heading for their annual trip to Idaho / Montana for some great trout fishing.

It is hopper time now too so on windy afternoons look for this to be happening.

Going to Alaska is another good idea to beat the heat of the Valley.

They have a short season up there...June, July, August, September.

Silver Salmon are just starting to come into the rivers now.

Some have headed north for some early Steelheading.

Friend have been on the Umpqua and the middle Rogue Rivers.

Fishing really early is the big deal for most of my friends who have been at it for a while.

My friend Al Perryman has added a new meaning to getting out early on the Rogue River near Grants Pass.

He lives near there and goes out super early many morning starting in June.

The have received a good number of Summer Run Steelhead into the hatchery already and Al and friends have hooked some nice ones already.
