...........tide water right now.

The rivers are a little warm so thousands of steelhead and salmon are stacking up in that lakey water inside the mouth of both rivers.

My friend Al Perryman said to fish the first few riffles just above tide water in both rivers, very early and very late unless it is overcast.........them fish all day?

Next few weeks should get wild up there.

I heard the quota for salmon on the Klamath was set at 1100 fish this year (it was 14000 last year). With a quota that low the season will likely end for salmon really quick. Wish I was there!

Almost heard the same. I heard it was 1400. But still close. I wonder what the gill netting quota is.

They don't start counting the fish on the Klamath till August 15 th.

The mouth of the River (jaws) are only allowed to keep 165 fish, I am not sure how many up River however it won't be very many. I was there a few days ago and my partner and I really whacked them, yes we harvested some nice Kings and a few hatcheries steelhead, better us then the other guys.

There wasn't any nets at all in the rivers except maybe two or three further up the river, I heard that the Indian harvest was totally closed and after seeing for myself the void of nets I believe it. Can you imagine how good the King salmon fishing will be in 2-3 years from now, with about 50.000 more salmon spawning this year.

I am heading up again tomorrow.

Just got back from the Klamath and Trinity, gill nets were out on both rivers. While the nets are in, its very unlikely fish make it upstream. Additionally, the parts of the Klamath were closed to the public. They had security and posted US Forest Service Permits signed by Merv George Jr.
