Just received a $250 gift certificate to Sportsman's Warehouse. They have a Redington Dually 5 weight 11' for just the right amount. Does anybody have any experience with this Rod. I already have an Airflo Skagit Compact 420 grain head I bought for an economy Cabela's TLR 6 weight 11'. Would that work on a 5 wt Dually?

It seems like the Dually has a crisper action then the Cabelas Rod. Your advise is always welcome!

Since you are locked into Sportsman Warehouse & have limited options, I'd take the Airflo head on your reel and cast it on the Dually at the store.

BTW- SW is having a casting clinic 8/6 at the IF store- perfect time for you to try the rod and some lines. (I was bored and wondered if SW had a store in Idaho since I will be in Boise in a couple of weeks and have never been in one).

That was a great idea, but. The clinic was cancelled. I did talk to Brandon and in his opinion he thought the 420 might be on the heavy side. But I guess it would depend on the caster to some degree. Thanks!

I'd have to agree with Brandon, might be a little heavy. I use an airflo scandi 420 on a sage one 6126, it seems to be a perfect match, it'll also throw an airflo rage 450 and an airflo scandi 390, to me the 420 is perfect.

My dad has a winston 5116 and he put an airflo rage 360 on it and thought it was too light, but felt the airflo rage 390 was perfect. I liked his rod with the rage 360 but I seem to have a faster casting stroke than he does.

Long story short, I'd guess the rod would feel good around 360-390.
