Not sure but I think most use the long shaft versions on a drift boat = 20 inch shaft

Try to find a Yamaha

Four stroke motor is gonna be a better investment with the lower emissions. A bit more money up front, but much more enjoyable to run!

With a 4 stroke they are quieter, don't smoke and you don't have to mix oil in your gas.

Now on San Luis and the Forebay, if you have a two stroke engine, it must have the star rating sticker or it's not allowed. I have a 2 hp 4 stroke Honda which I'm assuming it's ok, according to the person I asked in the SL office

Bill,

Your right, I forgot to add that it must be a long shaft, which are typically 20-23" long. I prefer a two stroke as they have more torque/pushing power to run a drift boat and clients around, especially up current.

I had a 4 stroke 6hp and a 2 stroke 6hp, and the 2 stroke pushed my boat a lot better and even faster than the 4 stroke. Also the 2 strokes are much easier to work on, a lot less moving parts, and they are typically 10-20lbs lighter than their 4 stroke counter part, depending on the hp.

Baja, if you have a 4 stroke you are good to go.
