Summer's here and made it official by taking the kids and some friends up to camp / fish at Wild Plum for the extended weekend. First time up on the North Fork since November and was excited to see it back in shape and flowing. Water is still a little high but nothing sketchy to get into, felt great to leave the waders at home and pull out the sandals for the first time this year. If you haven't been up to it, Wild Plum is a total gem. Sites are secluded, lots of trees, and easy access to some really fun water packed with small, but feisty bows and brookies.
Yellow / Orange Stimulators in a 14-16, Adams, Wulff's, Yellow Sallies, a cotton ball...you could throw anything that floats at these guys and they'd slam it. Fish were typical creek / NFYR sized; 6-13", but classic North Fork colors and a blast on the 3wt. It's pretty much go time up there if you want to get into fish all day long.

The only thing better than stalking fish in plunge pools is hanging out around the campfire. Starting to feel more like home than actual home.

Taught the kids how to cast a bit, but they were pretty bent on being hunters and keeping some fish for dinner, so broke camp and drove up to Lower Sardine Lake for Father's Day. Surprised them and rented a little boat and immediately started sticking them on fish. They stock Lower Sardine pretty heavily, so it's as close to a sure bet as you can get if you want to introduce someone to fishing. Had to dunk some worms and sacrifice some stockies to to greater good, but filled the cooler and taught the kids how to dispatch, clean and cook their catches. Their first time understanding that they eat what they take and don't waste anything, and all 4 thought it was the greatest dinner they've ever had.

I could honestly care less about Father's Day as a holiday, but it was a blast spending it with these dudes and getting out of the suburbs for a bit.
