Looks like I will be hosting a group trip next spring, May 2017, for the shop to Avalon of Cuba for the best saltwater flats fishing in the world.

We will be going to stay on La Tortuga, a double decker house boat.

Fly in a couple of days early and stay later both sides of the trip in Havana. Before you know it, the trip is over. Not only does it give you bearing, but you get a flair of the local culture. We picked up a day of tours in a private taxi with an English speaking tour guide. We were approached on our first evening in Havana outside our hotel- something that tour books advise against. Best money we ever spent. I have included a photo of our ride and the alternative, a tour bus.

It is a 6 hour bus ride from Havana out to where we take off for a 4 hour boat ride out to our house boat.

I don't think we will see another boat except our 4 skiffs.

There are a lot of salt water operations in Cuba but if you do some research you will see that Avalon is the big deal.
