Bass & Panfish are in the shallows feeding on top in the Detla.

American Shad are coming up the rivers from the ocean to spawn. Sacramento, Feather, Yuba and American Rivers.

Stripers are coming in from the Delta, Bays and ocean to spawn up near Colusa on the Sacramento River.

Almost all valley rivers have resident trout and small Steelhead in them below the first dam feeding up on caddis, etc.

Big Cutthroat trout in Pyramid Lake in Nevada are good

Bass and panfish are in the shallow of most low elevation CA reservoirs.

* Lots of light after work for fishing....time to put your tackle in the car.

**I would hold off on the high elevation trout lakes and streams, but they are probably just starting.

Don't you just hate it when it gets like that! What to do, which way to go?

Yes, Idadon,

When I was younger and single it was very hard to decide what to do this time of year.

Too many good choices.

Always drawn to spring run Half-pounders but I love top water bass too.

When the Shad get here it will be wild.

Could go to Pyramid lake for a big Cutthroat trout?

**If you want to get really pumped up go by the shop today because Andy Guibord and Al Bunch are working today.

These guys are two of the best crazy wild fly fishers I know.

They will get you excited and get you headed in the right direction.

I had a Navy buddy years ago that used to put colored poker chips in a coffee can. Red for Bass, green for Trout, etc. he had chips for Steelhead, Salmon, Shad, even saltwater stuff. Then it was just a matter of doing a blind draw. Most of the time he would draw till he got what he wanted but that was just his way of deciding. I always found it amusing.

My own choice is usually what I can catch on a fly and pulls the hardest.
