Some years ago I was very fortunate to go to Idaho and Montana with world class trout fly fishers, Don Rotsma and Rick Jorgensen.

We had some spectacular dry fly fishing on Silver Creek on that trip.

Matching the hatch on smooth sporing creeks is very special.

We have some famous spring creeks in California.

May/June and October are top months for these little streams.

We have Hat Creek, Fall River in Nor Cal, then Hot Creek and the Owens River down south.

Any smooth slow moving streams with good hatches would fall into this category.

You need something like a 9' #4 line rod with a softer action, floating line, long leader, long light tippet (6x/7x) and small dry flies that are very close to the real insects that are hatching.
