Golden Rainbow Trout

I just wanted to share this. I saw a picture of one of these a few months ago. This is called a "Golden Rainbow Trout" and they have them in Pennsylvania. Attached is link with info on the trout, but it's not a Golden Trout (our state fish), it's a rainbow with gold pigmentation.

Cool looking fish.

They are called "Banana" trout up here in Idaho. F&G plants them in some of the city ponds. My Grandson caught a 6 pounder last summer. They look pretty cool swimming around in clear water. Eagles find them pretty interesting too!

Have also heard them referred to as "albino rainbow trout". Crystal Springs Hatchery has a number of them, that they occasionally release. A natural mutation (I think it occurs something like 1 out of a million) that does not last very long in the wild due to coloration, according to hatchery staff.

We called 'em Palamino Trout in MD and Penn. Pretty funny spending all this time sneaking up on camouflaged brownies in the Yellow Breeches and then seeing one of those mid riffle.
That was 30 years ago though, looks like they call 'em something else now!

Mt Lassen ponds plants these along with the other Triploids in there spring ponds up north. Caught one really long time ago when I was first getting into the game.

It's not an albino, and not a natural mutation. Check out the link. They're pretty common where they are planted. As John Sv stated, they're also called "Palomino Trout."
