Aloha, went out yesterday and got some nice small ahi on the fly. Wide open bite, lots of sashimi.

Way to go Don. That's a perfect size too. Much bigger and it starts to become work. Tony

Great catch!! As Tony says, just the right size,...for catching and eating. How about some Poke?? mmm, mmm!!
Thanks guys, it was a fun day out there. Darian I am about to slice up some ahi chunks and make some fresh spicy ahi poke with the flying fish eggs. That stuff is killer. You're right Tony, much bigger and you have to work too hard. That last one took 100yds into the backing on the 12wt. He sounded and a couple of mahi came into check him out while he was in the death spiral. I told my friend to toss out an opelu, but they only sniffed it. Too bad I couldn't cast a fly at the mahi, they sounded. I can't catch all the fish. It is nice the fishing has started to pick up now. Ono season is only a couple of weeks away! Stay warm and dry, Don
