AWESOME!!! INDEED and I get what you're saying as it's been tough in the high, dirty water...

but I'd be more frustrated if Folsom was still at 30% capacity and the river was suffering through another 500-800cfs drought flow.

I consider this winter steelhead season as 'taking one for the team'

I'm happy for the river, the critters and some of the humans, hahaha

Some years back, 1990s?, we had a big high water winter.

Lower American River was running over the top of Nimbus Dam which was guessed to be about 130,000 cfs.

That spring when the water came back down the river was graded very flat with no runs and the rocks were so clean they were almost white.

+1 buddy.

Lots of downstream critters gonna enjoy that water.

Nice flush.

Some of my most memorable fish were caught at high flows , 6000 and up... And boy will they use that current to there advantage! Fish the edges, start out short with just your tip hanging out your rod and find a nice little seam break and swing that bug through there!! 11701

With all this non sense water releases, they'd better not ask for water rationing this summer. This is crazy.....
