American River in December??

I will be visiting family near the foot of Arden Way for several days beginning December 21 (not too far from the pedestrian/bike bridge). It seems to me that there might be some steelhead (or at least casting) opportunities in that section of the American River around then but I am without a clue as to where I might want to go. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Suggestions that work will be rewarded with steelhead flies. Thanks.

He knows every riffle on the river from the Nimbus Dam down to the confluence.

With low flows the winter run Steelhead seem to start stacking up down low from Watt Avenue to River Park / Paradise Beach.
