Went fishing this Saturday at an unnamed river to see if they were hungry.
Answer is an emphatic YES!

Jeff F and I both had some screaming reels. No small fish this outing and
the rainbows were full of pi$$ and vinegar. All between 14-17". Strange
that only had one jump, but the rest hunkered down and ran hard. So
much so that we thought a few were foul hooked. They weren't!

Oct caddis pupa size 12 (orange chenille on scud hook) and Hogan's S&M
baetis size 16, prince nymphs. Most fish were on the caddis.

No dry action and didn't see one Oct caddis adult. Indicator and high
sticking was the ticket. Takes were subtle.

I used the new "screw on" thingamabbers. They are a little heavier, but
seem to float a tad higher. We lost both of them, so need to remember to
make sure the line is screwed in tight.

The air was crisp and we fished in fleece pullovers for most of the day,
but it was mild in the afternoon.

Nice report! Only a couple days left to go get your line wet. Good way to end the season!
