The only thing that is not fishing in Nor Cal is American Shad.
Trout in streams:
I would fish some of our larger trout streams because they will moire than likely have water in them.
Trout in lakes:
Many of our trout lakes should be very good with the rain and cooling nights.
Steelhead: It is prime time for swinging flies for steelhead in our longer rivers.
Salmon:
It is also the start of the king salmon tide water fly fishing season. Check for low water closures.
Stripers:
They are in the bays and Delta now.
Warmwater:
Water temp is good for bass and pan fish to be in the shallows feeding up for winter.
Pacific Ocean:
WSB, halibut and tuna are being caught off our coast.
*Like I said, October is good for almost everything with fins and lips in CA.
**Kids are back to school and there are many who are hunting this time of year so the crowds are down some.
