We saw quite a few people wade fishing in the evening yesterday right out from the restaurant we were eating at.

We asked the waiter, "What do you think they are catching out there now?"

He said, "Probably nothing...."


I thought his response was priceless.

As a kid I'd spend summers in Biloxi with my cousins. After fishing all morning we'd go swimming all afternoon. Then it was dinner with the whole family.

After dinner my cousins and I would often head back to the beach and wade the shallows. We'd carry a lantern and a short pole spear and spear blue crabs. This was a regular thing down there and lots of folks did it. All was great fun until one night my cousin Ricky stepped on a sting ray and got the barb through the side of his foot. Had to take him all the way to Gulfport to get sewn up.

Tony we would gig flounder in Bay St louis the same way. Hated sticking a ray, step back and keep the tail away from your feet.

Bill if it was Gulf shores they were probably on a school of specks.
