A few years ago I was very lucky to be able to go on a wonderful trip to Brazil to the Amazon for Peacock Bass.
My fishing partner was my cousin, Steve Cotta, of Sacramento. A retired law enforcement officer.
Steve was very athletic as a youngster, doing some fishing but mostly hunting though out his life.
We used mostly 9' #9 line rods with floating lines because the water was low and fairly clear.
Steve mostly used the Charlie's Airhead by Umpqua in red/yellow in size #1/0 and actually out fished me with it for a week.
**If you are going to fish for Peacock Bass in South America you might throw in a few Airheads.
Airheads kind of suspend, not floating on top but also not sinking much either. At time this is very deadly.....
