End of an another storied fly shop

Well the Chico Fly Shop...formerly the Powell Fly Shop...is out of business. I'm sure a number of you have stopped in over the years to see Press, Walt, or Larry (who's been running it since Press passed). The shop on 8th Ave shop is a Norcal landmark for me. This is truly a bummer.

There is one last sale going on yesterday and today with flies for $1 and 50% off everything in the shop.

The end of an era for the famous Powell name.

EC Powell was the real founder of the great fly rod building dynasty.

EC made some of the best casting split cane rods of that time.

They went from famous split cane, to fiberglass and then graphite, over about a 100 years.

Founder was EC Powell, then his son Walton Powell and next was his son Press Powell.
