Found a recent past story on NPR that covered effects of the drought on Salmon/Steelhead in rivers/streams in Oregon/Washington. Apparently, things aren't any better up there than they are here. Check it out:

I live in Washington, NE of Portland. My local river is completely closed in the lower section and the upper river is only open from sun up until 2pm. So yeah, things are bad up here.

I normally fish several times a week year 'round since it is only 5 minutes away. But this Summer, I've decided to focus on other things. The fish don't need the pressure. Mother nature is bad enough on them they don't need me swinging flies in their faces. The only exception is the occasional trip to rivers that aren't as low and have a cooler flow.

I moved up here about 4 years ago from the Bay area. The fishing is normally great here and (hopefully) one Summer doing other things isn't so bad. :)

Sounds like drought conditions extend all the way up to Alaska this year.
