Well I don't often get to hold a fish of a lifetime. Today I did. My good friend Gene caught this striper on the Sacramento River. The fish was 48" long x 27" girth. So we estimate the fish was in the mid to high 40slb class. Quite possibly top 5 guide moments in my life. Humbling and amazing all at the same time. I feel honored to be holding a true river monster and it is quite possible I will never touch another fish like this the rest of my life. I have openings if any of you want to try the striper fishing on the Sacramento River. Thanks for reading. ‪#‎RIOFlyLines‬ ‪#‎ScottFlyRods

Definitely a trophy of a lifetime. Great pictures too. Congratulations to both of you. That takes team effort.

Once the shad begin to slow down in the rivers some of those big Moe's go on the bite. We've done well on big fish in August / Sept.

I was the other guy on the boat when this fish was caught and also the photographer of the picture shown in this post. A very exciting moment indeed!
Would any of you fly rod striper enthusiasts support the idea of having the Sac from Los Molinas to Red Bluff declared a catch and release only, single barb, no bait fishery for striped bass? Those fish are there to spawn and we need to give them the opportunity to fulfill their mission.
