Smallies...smallies everywhere!

Hit a small Shasta area reservoir with Tayler from Tailwalker yesterday eve hunting for a hex hatch, and even though nothing quite came off other than an occasional bug, had a super fun time hammering the smallies. When it's 102d out and the rivers are low and hot, trolling and stripping buggers for these guys is a blast. Nothing big, but they're a blast on a 4-5wt, hard fighting little guys. Good beers never hurt to have on board either.

The hex hatches have been pretty sporadic on the various lakes. It is fairly obvious where you guys were fishing and having fun. I also seem to think you fish some of the same great areas I like to fish!!! If you are fishing before the hatch the Mercer hex nymph is great, also try a white crystal wooly booger. Smallies also hit the callibaetis dries around 11 Nice job.
